My first kaleidoscope, a metaphor for moving out into this late-pandemic world. A log from an ash tree removed from my yard because of invasive emerald ash borers from asia. Scorched on the outside by a hotter natural world. A charred channel runs down the middle, like the fires consuming the human world from within during pandemic times. Kaleidoscope optics view through the burned-out times to the current world beyond , beautiful but fragmented with no stable pattern as yet (my camera can't focus on this-- technology may not be helpful in navigating change). Looking past the losses to new opportunities is scary and hard. Be kind.
