Charles Wisseman, Mixed Media Artist

A new sculpture/book-like object. From an alternative reality where the Sumerians stayed as a major civilization?-- a communication device with mixed levels of technology. The front is the main panel of an old calculator, with cuneiform on the buttons. The middle panel is a test sample of cross-sections in epoxy, which my wife thought looked like cell phone innards. An old collapsible radio antenna is attached. The rear panel has part of an old hand-drawn map from the Pakistani mountains. The back has an acrylic disc with holes to suggest a speaker or camera, and a button operates an LED and a clicker. I like to engage multiple senses when possible. Current reality is becoming strange enough that I find myself thinking about other realities that could have been.
