gunpowder 2018

Latest experiment in paper/books. I found a container of gunpowder left over from my muzzle-loading days (long ago). Fire is fun, and good for burning away anger from the last week. Patterned burns on handmade paper leaves powder burn and holes in a unique pattern, which shows well with colored paper behind. The covers are cast cotton with powder burns , then saturated with fabric dye and walnut. If you try this, do it outside-- this is definitely not smokeless powder. Anything can be repurposed for art making!
