Next entry in the cubic foot of art project—March mandala madness.
Still cold and snowy, and I am getting a little stir crazy like the rest of the north.
I found an old toy Spirograph, which took me back to the days before graphic calculators,
so I spent an afternoon manually generating radial and circular patterns. I also mined my
embarrassingly large collection of old photos, photograms, and handmade papers
for circular patterns. These are mounted in a spiral pattern, which folds and fits into a case with cast paper spirals on the ends. The joy of color and pattern can light up a winter day. I like the interplay of the circle and the square-- in sacred geometry terms the one/divine and the many/worldly.
