Latest project- the Bee board-- a musical instrument made from a carpenter bee-riddled board cut into 51 1-inch segments. (As many as 5 tunnels in some cross-sections!) A single wire stretched in a sounding chamber behind the keyboard can make different notes by pressing the wire onto frets with spring-loaded metal sliders on a rack below the keys . Action is a bit like a harpsichord. Some notes are a bit twangy, which is OK for a bee-inspired instrument. Metal name plate is from a friend who repairs pianos. A few dead bees are still in the keys, so tuning is maybe B-flat? Looks a little like an organ keyboard-- My wife calls it a "Charlimonium". I am pretty sure no one else has one.
